While armor clashes, it is the infantry that wear the burden of the most intense fighting. The Panzer-Pionere are no exception. With their sophisticated tools and tactics they can construct a passage in a minefield in no time and when needed, hold their line until reinforcements arrive. During the attack on Rots in June 1944, among other units it was the Pioner Battalion of the 12. SS that fought a costly battle against the approaching allies, supporting Panthers in their rapid attack to stem the tide of Commonwealth armor.
